Diverse Thinkers
Stephanie Hume founded Diverse Thinkers to give neurodiverse students the support they need to thrive in VCE English and English in primary and secondary school.
Stephanie is an inclusive education specialist and a secondary English and Humanities teacher. She has spent more than eight years supporting students with diverse learning needs across Years 7–12. She knows that capable students can struggle when teaching isn't designed around how they think. Her sessions are calm, structured and strengths-based — helping students make sense of texts, organise their ideas and write with clarity and confidence.
A different kind of writing expertise
Before she started teaching, Stephanie worked in corporate communications and public relations, writing for national and global audiences. That experience shapes how she teaches. Essays become less intimidating and more achievable when students learn to build a clear argument, choose precise language and edit with purpose.

Stephanie believes students learn best when they feel understood and valued for the way they think. At Diverse Thinkers, every student is met where they are and supported to reach where they want to go.
How Stephanie works
- Draws on evidence-based inclusive frameworks, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
- Adapts every session to each student's learning profile, pace and strengths
- Breaks complex tasks into clear, manageable steps using scaffolds and worked examples
- Works in partnership with families so students feel supported at home and in their learning
- Builds independence as well as results, so students leave with skills they can keep using
